How Does Quantum Physics Change Medicine?
While working with Dr. Amit Goswami in Hawaii in 2008, we had the amazing opportunity to do video classes with him, to walk with him, to go to the beach with him and this was for us a very enlightening experience. We wish for you to have the same types of experiences in the new class that IQUIM, the Quantum University, is broadcasting live worldwide from August 19th to the 23rd with Amit Goswami, PhD.
Dr. Goswami has written a textbook on quantum mechanics and many other books on quantum physics and consciousness. He appeared in the film "What the Bleep Do We Know." His book, The Quantum Doctor, connects quantum physics and consciousness to the art of healing. This brand new class will go even further down the rabbit hole. Here are a few of the many topics that will be discussed during this amazing live class:
What kind of healing is quantum healing?
As it turns out, quantum healing is an example of a discontinuous quantum leap in consciousness. In quantum physics, two kinds of movement are allowed. One is continuous. The other kind of movement is discontinuous, and that's what we are talking about with quantum leaps. This is how quantum healing takes place. So it's very important to understand the word "quantum" as it is being used in quantum healing. It is that kind of healing which comes to us in one fell swoop of a discontinuous leap in our consciousness.
How does quantum physics change medicine?
In conventional, deterministic, materialist physics, neither the patient nor the healer, nor their intentions have a role to play in the healing process. They are like machines, guided by machine diagnostics, and healing intentions from either the physician or the client have no role to play. Quantum physics has changed all the equations involved in healing. With quantum physics, all experiences can be included. In this way, the mental and the physical can work in parallel when mediated by consciousness.
What is consciousness?
Consciousness in the quantum way of looking at things as the ground of all being in which all possibilities exist. However, as soon as you define it as such, you then have to compromise all hope of defining consciousness totally in a philosophical manner. But in our context, if we acknowledge that consciousness is the ground of everything, then it's quite a step forward in this new world of healing. It has to be that way because unless consciousness is included, dualism separates mind and body and then there really is no healing.
What is intention?
For our purposes, what we are most interested in is conscious intention. How does intention work in quantum physics? It works when one intention becomes the freedom to choose among quantum possibilities, as well as the freedom to choose not only quantum possibilities that become physical actualities, but also quantum possibilities that become mental and vital actualities. The combination of physical, mental, and vital actualities becomes our healing actualities. Therefore, intention is the most important thing about consciousness.
What is quantum consciousness?
Quantum consciousness is where we make our healing intentions come to fruition. By including the actual experience of the healer and healee in the equation as we inject the intention to heal (using the quantum physics model), we are making a choice from among all quantum possibilities. So for our practical purposes, quantum consciousness is that place where our freedom to choose is totally present. Quantum healing largely depends on our capacity to access this space of all possibilities.
What is downward causation?
The conventional allopathic medicine model is that everything is matter. Elementary particles make atoms which make molecules which make cells which then make organs, and one of the organs is the brain, and it's the brain that makes consciousness. This model does not work. Consciousness is the ground of all being. Downward causation describes when choices in consciousness out of the quantum possibilities manifest the actual experience. It has to be downward causation, because unless consciousness is included, there is no healing.
What is subspace or non-locality?
Subspace is the idea of quantum non-locality. Subspace means beyond space and time. Here with consciousness, the healer and the healee create a type of non-local entanglement. Consciousness is the non-local mediator. This is a crucial point. No signal is involved in this kind of non-local mediation. Quantum healing mainly arises from our capability of triggering this entanglement. So the questions we need to answer are: Can we access this subspace? How do we access this space of all possibilities?
What is a quantum leap?
Often the solution to a problem does not lie in the domain that created the problem. In quantum healing the kind of problem that is involved has been created by assigning wrong mental meaning to how we feel about the world, how we feel about our relationships, and how we feel about things in our life. A new mental outlook cannot be achieved just through the mental level of struggling with our thoughts. Therefore, we need a quantum leap toward the supramental so that we can achieve this new outlook and find a solution.
