BODY AWARENESS MEDITATION


 


There is a simple but powerful self-healing meditation that you can do whenever you feel the need to boost your immune system. It will also counteract any disruption of your Energy Field by some form of negativity.


 


Last thing at night before falling asleep and first thing in the morning before getting up, “flood” your body with Consciousness (Awareness, Attention). Make sure the body is relaxed. Close your eyes. Bring your Attention to your Breathing.  



  • Become aware of the flow of breath in and out of your body. Feel yourself breathing into the lower abdomen. You are not trying to breathe deeply – you are simply watching your breath with Attention. Follow the breath with your Attention as it moves in and out of the body.


 



  • Become aware of the moment between breaths – the Still-point. Enter as deeply as you are able into the Still-point, waiting for the moment when the next inhalation begins.


 



  • Remain in this state of relaxed awareness, bringing more and more Attention to the Still-point.


 



  • Choose different parts of your body to focus your Attention on: head, neck, shoulders, chest, abdomen, back, pelvis, legs, feet, arms, hands. Feel the Life Energy inside those parts. Stay with each part for 15 seconds or so. Then let your Attention run through the body like a wave a few minutes, from head to feet and back again. This need only take a minute or so. After that, feel the body in its totality, as a Single Field of Energy. Become aware of the entire Energy Field of the body. Don’t think about it – feel it. Be present in every cell of your body. Don’t be concerned if the mind occasionally succeeds in drawing your Attention out of the body. As soon as you know that this has happened, just return your Attention to the body and breathing.


 



  • If you find it helpful, use the “Light” visualization; see yourself surrounded by Light – a Sea of Consciousness. Breathe in that Light. Feel that Light filling up your body and making it luminous. Then gradually focus more on the Feeling. When you can Feel the body clearly as a Single Field of Energy, let go, if possible, of any visual image and focus exclusively on the Feeling. Don’t get attached to any visual image. Stay in this state of Pure Consciousness (Awareness) as long as feels comfortable; then become aware again of your breathing and the physical body by paying Attention to different parts of the body. Open your eyes. Look at your surroundings for a few minutes in a meditative way – that is, without labeling them mentally – and continue to Feel the Body Energy Field as you do so.


Having access to that formless realm is truly liberating; it frees you from bondage to form and identification with form. It is Life in its undifferentiated state, the invisible Source of all things, the Consciousness within all beings. It is a realm of the Stillness and Peace, but also of Joy and intense Aliveness. Whenever you are present, you also realize that the Light of Pure Consciousness is not separate from who you are but constitutes your very essence.

True Self


 


Many common expressions reveal that people don’t know who they really are. We say: “my life” or “he lost his life” as if life was something that you can possess or lose. The truth is: you don’t have a life; you ARE life - the One Life, the One Consciousness that permeates the entire universe and takes temporary form to experience Itself as a stone or a blade of grass, an animal, a person, a star or a galaxy. We are all part of the One Life that manifests itself in countless forms throughout the universe, forms that are all completely interconnected. When you look at a tree or human being, Consciousness is looking at its creation through “your” eyes. All objects are not really inanimate; it only appears so to the senses. Physicists confirm that on a subatomic level everything is a pulsating Energy Field. What Buddhists have always known, Quantum physicists now confirm: there are no isolated things or events; underneath the surface appearance of separateness, all things are interconnected and are part of the totality of the Cosmos.   


 


Just as water can be solid, liquid, or gaseous, Consciousness can be as physical matter (“frozen”), as thoughts (“liquid”), or as Pure Consciousness (“formless”). Pure Consciousness is Life before it comes into manifestation. Don’t get the impression that the Un-manifested is separate from the manifested; it is the Life within every form, the inner essence of all that exists.


 


God


 


The word “God” has become empty of meaning through thousands of years of misuse. This misuse gives rise to absurd beliefs, such as a “My or our God is the only true God, and your God is false.” The word God has become a closed concept. The moment the word is uttered, a mental image is created, perhaps, of an old man with a white beard, or other mental representation of someone or something outside you.


 


God is the eternal, ever-present, indestructible One Life Force (Energy) underneath the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.


This Life Force is deep within every form of life and its innermost invisible and indestructible essence. It is our deepest Self, our true nature, our very essence, the feeling of our own presence (‘I am’).  God is Life itself. 


 


Life is just another word for God -- Oneness in many forms. All That Is, All That Ever Was, and All That Ever Will Be is God (Life). We are part of God. We and God are one. We are one with God, with all others, and with every living thing. We Are All One. We Are That Which Is God. Nothing is separate from God.
